Imagination is a wonderful thing, it adds color to our
existence, it provides escape from the humdrum of everyday life. The tree
in the poem is carnivorous. (Think of this in reference to trees growing in graveyards or on old battlefields ? What is contributing to their growth ? Are they carnivorous?). Some plants like the Venus Fly Trap, are carnivorous. This does not lessen the dangerous beauty of the plant nor its vital place in the eco-system. A further dichotomy is presented by
the fact that though the whistle toot tree eats birds, absorbing their music with
them, its very wood can be utilized to create a musical instrument to replicate the song of the birds. |
