| The girl in the poem is so busy daydreaming about where she would like to be and what she would like to be doing that she loses site of the present reality! She acknowledges to herself that she has behaved foolishly, realizing that the injury to her toe is her own fault and that her actions would incur a lecture from her mother about carelessness and its consequences. She takes responsibility for her own actions, an important part of growing up. |
